Welcome to physical education class. Please send your child to school dressed appropriately. Tie sneakers are the best. Anyone may change clothes before taking class.
We will start our fall season with Football, Lacrosse,Soccer, and Archery. Only 7th and 8th grade students will get to be archers. Early in September we will start our physical fitness testing. Our tests combine skills from the President's Physical Fitness Test. Physical Best, and The Fitnessgram. Students will be tested again in the spring to compare their progress. The hope of the physical education department is that each of our students will become a healthy happy adult. Games, dances, sports, and other activities are geared to help the child become a physically fit individual that will carry over their love of movement into adulthood. Getting along with and working with others successfully is a very important part of the program. Good sportsmanship is expected and practiced at all times. Grades are based on written and practical tests, participation, cooperation, and knowledge of rules and procedures in grades 4-8. In grades K-3 grades are based on participation, cooperation, and knowledge of rules and procedures. During marking periods two and three, I will be teaching health to grades three, four, and eight. Grade 3 will be learning about the circulatory system and eating a health breakfast. Grade 4 will be learning about the respiratory system and tobacco. Grade 8 will be learning about the "real" world. They will be discussing careers, budgets, and decision making that can affect their futures. | |
