September 7, 2010....Welcome to Mrs. Edwards' Homepage!

Discover what's happening in Social Studies class!  I update this page and the assignments page once a week.  Here's what to expect for the first week of school....

After a few ice-breaking activities we will begin a map skills unit in which students work in groups to locate and label important features on a world map.

Grade 7

We'll begin Chapter 12, The Islamic World, first sharing prior knowledge and perceptions, then exploring the physical geography of Arabia and the roots of Islam.

NOTE TO PARENTS: Religion has played an important role in the growth of ancient civilizations and world cultures. As part of the Social Studies curriculum, our study of Islam is deisgned to help students understand early Muslim empires, and not to support or oppose any particular faith.
